National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, a public engineering institute, was established as a Regional Engineering College in 1963. It was a joint enterprise of the Government of India and the Government of Haryana, India. In December 2008, it was recognized as Institute of National Importance. The Institute got the status of deemed university on June 26, 2002 and was renamed as National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra.
The vision of the institute is “to be a role-model in technical education and research, responsive to global challenges”.
NIT Kurukshetra believes in the motto of “Shramo Anavarat Chesta Cha” that translates into “Hard Work and Consistent Efforts”.
The campus of NIT Kurukshetra covers an area of 300 acres on the land of Kurukshetra. The campus has been organized into three functional divisions: hostels for the students, instructional buildings and residential sector for the staff.
Some of the important facilities provided in campus are a full-fledged health center, a Post Office and a branch of the State Bank of India. The campus also has other facilities like canteen, guest house, library, laboratories, Student Activity Centre, Open Air-Theatre & Parking, swimming pool, etc.
The various clubs for student activities include: Fine Arts and Modelling Club, Photography Club, Music and Dramatic Club, Postgraduate Club, Hiking and Trekking Club, Audio Visual & Aid Club, SPICMACAY.
Techspardha: The technical festival of the institute is Techspardha
Confluence: It is the annual cultural event of NIT Kurukshetra.
The campus of NIT Kurukshetra provides accommodation for the students and staff. The Institute has ten boys’ hostels and three girls’ hostels. Some common facilities for students are a common room equipped with furniture and color TV, medical care, mess, canteen, water cooler, etc.
